Hi, I hope you are doing well. Today I'm going to talk about Web 3.0 in depth and its pros and cons. So, keep reading to know more.

Before talking about Web 3.0, we should talk about Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. So,

What is Web 1.0?

In the early days of the Internet, the Internet was considered like a newspaper where many people visit specific websites to read the content they want. There was no interaction between the user and the Internet.

What is Web 2.0?

Then came Web 2.0 which we use today. It enables the user to interact with the Internet. Interactivity means that it not only allows the user to read the content, but it also allows them to create their own content and publish it on the Internet. They are YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Blogs, PodcastingWikipedia and all social media that allow the user to publish their content online and also allow them to connect with other people around the world.

Now we should know what is Web 3.0 and where does the term Web 3.0 come from, so keep reading...

Where does the term Web 3.0 come from?

You must have heard about  crypto and there is one cryptocurrency named Ethereum, the Co-Founder of Ethereum 'Gavin Wood' has introduced the Web 3.0 which will give us different experience.

What is Web 3.0?

Web 3.0 or Web 3 is the internet of next generation. It will be a decentralized network which is meant by internet will become distributed that is more secure and more private than the current internet and it will allow the user to make decisions and set their own rules.

Finally, now it's the time that users should have the power to control their sensitive data and all of this is called Web 3.0. Let me make you more understand about this using DOB term:

DOB Term

Why we need Web 3.0?

Before knowing what is Web 3.0 we should talk about why we need of Web 3.0 ?
Reason is that there is only one or two major companies that rules the internet. i.e. Google controls the 87% of the search and Facebook that has reaches 3.6 Billion people each months because of Meta.

The problem is who allows these companies to control internet and collect users data. The data that they collect is used to show ads. Sometimes ads are convenient but privacy becomes the major problem.

One interesting thing I would like to tell you that Apple has introduced a new feature in its iOS 14.5 in which a user can choose by itself which app can track him and the Facebook faced a problem that Apple iOS privacy change will result in $10 Billion revenue hit this year from the iPhone feature.

Let me give you one more example of these days, there is a browser called Brave Browser. You will also get paid if you use this browser to browse and view advertisements. Now let me tell you how it actually works, Brave Browser gives you a token and you can choose how many ads you will see when you start browsing at a certain time. Let's say as in Web 2.0,  you're spending your time watching ads on a video on YouTube and you get nothing and the publisher gets paid. The purpose of Web 3.0 is when the user spending his time to view ads, he should get paid too. That's why Brave Browser gives you token so you can exchange it with crypto and you'll be get paid in form of cryptocurrency.
