Submarine Missing Update

Why Did Billionaires Went in Submarine?

The submersible was on an expedition to explore the Titanic shipwreck. OceanGate Expeditions, the company that owned the submersible, conducts expeditions to the Titanic wreck site that include archaeologists and marine biologists. The company also brings people who pay to come along, known as “mission specialists.” They take turns operating sonar equipment and performing other tasks in the five-person submersible.

OceanGate Explorations Submersible Implosion:

The submersible that went missing on an expedition to explore the Titanic shipwreck was owned by OceanGate Expeditions. It was reported that a “catastrophic implosion” killed all five passengers of the submersible that suddenly lost communication with its mother ship over the weekend. The passengers killed were a Pakistani businessman and his son, Shahzada and Suleman Dawood; British businessman Hamish Harding; French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet; and Stockton Rush, the CEO of the vessel’s operator, OceanGate Expeditions. A senior Navy official told CNN that a Navy review of acoustics data detected an “anomaly consistent with an implosion or explosion” on Sunday in the general area where the Titan was diving when it went silent. Expert Ofer Ketter said the implosion would occur within a millisecond, if not a nanosecond, if something breached the hull of the vessel to cause a loss in pressure.

What Caused the Implosion?

The exact cause of the implosion is still being investigated. Investigators are continuing to scour the ocean floor for any insight into how a “catastrophic implosion” killed all five passengers of the submersible. However, it has been suggested that if something breached the hull of the vessel to cause a loss in pressure, it could result in an implosion.

How Deep Was the Submersible When it Imploded?

The exact depth at which the submersible imploded is not mentioned in my sources. However, it was reported that debris from the submersible was found about 1,600 feet from the historic wreckage of the Titanic.

What Happened to the Crew?

Killed Passengers

It was reported that all five passengers aboard the submersible were killed in the “catastrophic implosion” that occurred. The passengers killed were

  • Shahzada Dawood (Pakistani businessman)
  • Suleman Dawood (son of Shahzada Dawood)
  • Hamish Harding (British businessman)
  • Paul-Henri Nargeolet (French diver)
  • Stockton Rush (CEO of OceanGate Expeditions)

What is Being Done to Prevent this from Happening Again?

I do not have information on the specific steps being taken to prevent such an incident from happening again. However, investigators are continuing to scour the ocean floor for any insight into how the “catastrophic implosion” occurred. The results of the investigation may provide information that can be used to improve safety measures and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
